Meetings in casual spaces last 23% longer. Add a couch, boost collaboration and get real work done.
Want more productive meetings? Add a couch. Seriously.
Our data shows that meetings in casual spaces—ones with sofas, armchairs, or other comfy seating—last 23% longer than those in traditional conference rooms. It’s where the meeting after the meeting happens.
One large Density customer found that meetings in these relaxed settings averaged 49 minutes, a full 9 minutes longer than those in formal spaces with just a table and chairs.
Why? Could be that when people have the option to settle in, they’re more likely to stick around for that informal follow-up where the real talk happens.
👉 Sometimes it’s just a chance to process what just went down.
👉Other times, it’s where employees who’ll do the actual work get clarity, align on next steps, and make sure things actually move forward.
So if you want to foster more organic collaboration (and have the space for it), throw in a couch. Your meetings—and your team—might thank you.
